Welcome to Green Pastures Child Centre

About Us

Founded in 1984, Green Pastures was formed by a group of God-loving and devoted parents - including Dr and Mrs Leong Seng Kee and the late Mr Ng Ek Khiam - for the sole purpose of reaching out and providing a church-based childcare to the families living in and around the neighbourhood.

Our Centre takes in children from ages 18 months to 6 years. As one of the most affordable childcare centres in the Bukit Timah area and with low staff attrition rate, we attract both Christian and non-Christian parents as the church-based centre is seen to excel at instilling moral values. Currently, 25% of our students are Japanese.

Child-Centred Approach

We provide a conducive and supportive environment to facilitate children’s learning and development in

the social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional and spiritual domains.

Social

The development of communication and interaction skills, and learning how to establish relationships with people.

Creative

The exploration of media and materials in the making of art, enables children to express their creativity and imagination.

Physical

The development of gross motor skills such as running, jumping, climbing and hopping. Generations of children have enjoyed playing in our large sandpit playground - no longer as commonly found in Singapore as they were several years ago. It provides a vast and safe outdoor space and is one of the daily highlights for our children.

Spiritual

We believe that Christian education helps to inculcate spiritual values and instil good character in our children.

Curriculum

Adopting the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF) and the iTEACH NEL Framework, our daily routine consists of lessons that cover language and literacy, numeracy, outdoor play, reading/story time, computer, arts & craft, cooking, and Chinese reading programs.

Our indoor play time and various playing corners (e.g. dramatic and construction corners) help children in learning how to take turns and share toys with their friends while they are playing. They are occasionally given small home projects (such as using recycled materials to make craft) and bring them to school for show and tell sessions.

We provide story-telling and weave character-building into the lessons to teach children how to manage their own emotions and also feel for others. In addition, weekly Bible stories, making of Biblical craft and singing of Christian songs are part of the enjoyable routine. A prayer song is sung daily before meals and teachers will lead children in prayers for their friends when they are sick or absent from school.

Highlight of the Year

Our Annual Concert is the highlight of every school year, where the children don special costumes and joyfully perform song and dance items.

Go and open the door.

Maybe outside there’s a tree, or a wood, a garden

or a magic city.

— The Door, by Miroslav Golub

Events

Field trips are organized bi-annually as a way to promote learning outside of the classroom. Parents are strongly encouraged to join the trip as a good opportunity to bond, spend time with their child and to be part of their child’s learning. Every year, we have various celebrations in line with festive seasons, birthdays and special occasions like Children's Day. And at the end of the year, our annual concert showcases the hard work of the children.

Testimonials

  • A Nurturing and Loving School

I have three children who started attending Green Pasture’s Child Centre from the age of 18 months. Our eldest has since graduated, but all of them have been nurtured by the same love and kindness that make Green Pasture’s feel like a second home.

The teachers are genuinely caring, always putting the children’s well-being first. My kids especially love their outdoor playtime with friends in the sand playground — it’s a highlight of their day. Every person at the centre — from the principal to the teachers, the aunties and uncle who help cook and clean — brings such dedication and warmth. It’s clear they all take great pride in what they do, and it shines through in the smiles on my children’s faces. My kids truly love coming to school — they wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone at Green Pasture’s for the love, care, and joy you've given our family. We are so grateful.

  • Exciting, Values-driven, Child-centred

Our son has been attending Green Pastures Child Centre for over two years, and it has been a wonderful experience for our family. He comes home excited to share about the fun activities and engaging lessons, such as those from the weekly science programme, which he truly enjoys. The teachers and staff are passionate, nurturing, and deeply committed to both educating the children and instilling positive values. It’s clear that they always prioritise the well-being and best interests of each child. We highly recommend Green Pastures Child Centre to any parent seeking high-quality childcare in the area.

  • Increased Confidence in Communication

Both my children spent about a year at Green Pastures Child Centre. My son joined the K2 class after transferring from a Japanese-majority kindergarten. Although we were initially worried, he quickly made friends regardless of nationality and improved greatly in English and Math. He especially developed a love for Math and began solving problems independently. When he entered, he could barely speak English, but by graduation, he communicated with ease with all his classmates.

Our daughter experienced her first year of kindergarten here. She joined the N2 class and started with no English. However, she gradually formed friendships, especially with help from her Japanese classmates. By the end, she could communicate well in English. Reading and writing were challenging, but she loved crafts, drawing, singing, and dancing. She loved her classmates and the teachers, and had a lot of fun at school.

Both children greatly improved their communication skills over the year. Now, they confidently approach anyone in English and naturally enjoy interacting with people from different cultures—something that makes us happiest as parents.

The teachers, principal, and all staff are warm, supportive, and always approachable. We are truly grateful and felt at ease entrusting our children to their care. We sincerely wish the school continued success and growth.

  • An All-rounded School

We’ve had a wonderful experience at Green Pastures Child Centre! The principal is warm, approachable, and clearly passionate about early childhood education. The teachers are caring, attentive, and create a nurturing environment where children thrive.

One of the highlights is the fantastic sand playground — our boys look forward to playing there every day. The centre also offers healthy, well-balanced meals for lunch, which gives us peace of mind knowing our children are eating well. We especially appreciate the variety of external lessons provided by qualified vendors, adding extra value and fun to the daily routine. Highly recommended!

  • Great Environment and Activities

My two children attended Green Pastures. It was a very fun time. The big trees in the playground provide shade for the children, allowing them to play in a cool environment. There are also many playground equipment and toys, and teachers are always watching over the children, so the environment is set up so that the children can feel safe and relaxed and have fun.

There are also field trips, and they were able to go to various places in the country to learn and deepen their knowledge. At events, they bring food, sweets, and fruit to have parties, and enjoy wearing their favorite clothes. My children always looked forward to it. At the year-end concert, each class dances a wonderful dance. The graduates receive their diplomas and sing songs, making it a moving concert. It was a wonderful memory for both the children and the parents.

The principal and homeroom teachers are also very kind, and always talk to them with kindness. We will never forget our beloved Green Pastures, the teachers, good friends, and the mothers. I am really glad that my children were able to attend Green Pastures. Thank you.
