About Us
Welcome to Green Pastures Child Centre!
Founded in 1984, Green Pastures was formed by a group of God-loving and devoted parents- including Dr and Mrs Leong Seng Kee and the late Mr Ng Ek Khiam- in order to provide a Christian-values based childcare to the families living in and around the neighbourhood.
Our Centre takes in children from ages 18 months to 6 years. As one of the most affordable childcare centres in the Bukit Timah area and with low staff attrition rate, we attract both Christian and non-Christian parents as the church-based centre is seen to excel at instilling moral values. Over the years, we have earned a strong reputation for delivering a rigorous curriculum that lays a strong foundation for primary school while fostering joyful learning.
Our Beliefs and Philosophy
Beliefs About Children
Every child is wonderfully unique, deserving to be loved and respected.
At Green Pastures, we give each child the space to grow at their own pace and reach their full potential. Every child is a capable and curious learner, eager to make sense of the world. School should be a joyful place of discovery– where learning feels natural, inspired by play, exploration and meaningful interactions.
Character building is intentional.
We believe in nurturing children’s character through Christian values that shape their spirit, strengthen their moral compass and give them a sense of purpose to their lives. Inculcating values is intentional because values are not innate; they are learned through deliberate teaching, modeling and practice. We are committed to guide children lovingly but also firmly, as it instills discipline and supports their growth into confident, compassionate and responsible individuals.
Strong, trusting relationships form the heart of effective teaching and learning.
Children need to feel safe to make mistakes and learn. To this end, we place great attention on building a warm and supportive environment where every child can explore, grow and flourish.
Philosophy to Teaching and Work
We believe that teaching should be child-centred.
By closely observing and understanding what children are curious about or enjoy, we can better design engaging activities that align with their interests and developmental progress. Our teaching materials, methods, and pace are thoughtfully adapted to meet individual needs, ensuring that learning remains relevant, enjoyable, and age-appropriate throughout the early years.
We recognise that a warm, trusting partnership between teachers and parents makes a world of difference in a child’s growth.
Hence, we communicate openly and work hand in hand with parents to create a circle of care that supports children’s learning both at school and at home. We welcome feedback and exchange of insights into their child’s needs as we celebrate each child’s progress together.
We see all teaching and non-teaching staff as one body– united in purpose and spirit.
Within Green Pastures, just as we care for the children, we care for one another, drawing strength from teamwork and mutual support. By valuing each person’s gifts and contributions, we build a family-like environment for both staff and children. We strive for excellence in practice, collaborating with humility and respect regardless of age, seniority or experience.
We also believe in putting Christ at the centre of all we do, in order to fulfil our vision and mission for the children.
